Regarding Leeched Links, Dead Links, and Posting
So, I've been going through my posts and replacing/adding MegaUpload links to the articles and mirrors I've posted. I'm sure you've seen the updates in the Shoutbox. I'm at the tail-end of this massive project but, I'm getting very concerned. Since there is no way to click something and view all your posts on one screen, I've been going through the A-Z Article Listing movie by movie, and have noticed something interesting. Please read these three concerns very carfully...Posting:
There are a couple things EVERYONE needs to do before posting a film on this site: 1) Verify the links are active (Uploaders and Leechers) and 2) Verify that the film you would like to post IS NOT ALREADY POSTED!!!!!!!!!! This is a HUGE problem here. Before you post a film, make DAMN sure it's not already here. Check IMDb for alternative titles and search those too. Any duplicate posts will either not be approved by admin or deleted once found.
While sifting through the films posted so far, I have been deleting posts left and right but, I HAVE been relocating active links to the original and/or more complete postings...while still giving credit to the posters. This is not fun...or easy. In fact, I'm beginning to develop a tumor (thanks a lot Rapidshare!).
So...check yourself before I go postal on you! Bam!
Leeched Links:
There has been some discussion in the past about Leeched Links and their worth on this forum. Although this is not the main focus of this news article, I would like to point out that Leeched Links are not the problem...it's their availability. I have come across too many articles that have had two to three, to even four or five sets of links, which were all dead. This is becoming annoying for not only myself but, the other members of this site who rely on us uploaders and top-posters to provide stable and last-able links.
For those of you who post articles with Leeched Links regularly, please try to keep track of them...if you can. I understand that this can be a project for some people but, we have to try and keep the links alive. If this means finding another set of Leeched Links...cool, as long as they work.
Double-Check check your Leeched Links...then check 'em again before you post 'em!
Dead Links:
Just like the elderly and unfed pets, links die. Even those of us who have been posting for years and have been with one or two file hosters for what seems like forever, links still die. I have found almost 50 posts of my own with dead links. To those of us who are heavy uploaders and/or posters, we all need to step up a smidge and sift through our posts. Check everything you got and then double-check it!
If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me or any of the other admins. I'm not mad at you guys (and gals :-) but, we all need to start being more thurough and consistent.
Thanks everyone!
